The Dahabiya Nile Cruise is very highly recommended to sail along the Nile because it’s such an authentic and romantic way to travel along the river, very much like in the time of the Pharaohs.
Sailing in the Nile will be an experience that will take your breath away. The biggest river in Africa, surrounded on each side by ancient temples, welcoming cities and villages, remote islands of people living traditionally. We will take you through a pleasant tour of exploring ancient Egyptian constructions by relaxing and enjoying onboard
The Dahabiya boat is operated mainly by sail, but the boats travel with a tugboat in case there is no wind. Sailing on the Nile in a Dahabiya from Esna (1-hour drive south of Luxor) to Aswan will enable you to see many places rarely seen by tourists. You will stop for sights that are seldom seen on the regular Nile Cruises and you will get very close to villages along the river and real-life in Egypt.
Arrive at Luxor airport or train station and transfer to Esna by car (50 km south), Check-in at the dahabiya and start sailing heading to El-Hegez where you will enjoy a walk through a small village and the boat will stay there for the night.
First night on board.
Sailing to El-Kab Necropolis, the ancient city of Nekheb, where you can see the remains of the temple and the tombs. After that sailing to Edfu city where you visit the beautifully preserved temple of Horus that has been buried under the desert for hundreds of years. Then set sail for a small island near Edfu and the boat will stay there for the night.
Second night on board.
Sailing to Besao island where you will enjoy a walk through the island and see the people's life and fishing boats. After that sailing to visit Gebal El-Selsela where the cliffs on both sides close to the narrowest point along the length of the entire Nile. Then heading to a near island where the boat will stay for the night.
Third night on board.
Sailing to Kom Ombo city where we will visit the double temple of Haroeris and Sobek. After that sailing to Daraw where we will walk through the village and visit the Daraw markets. Then the upgoing sail trip will continue to the Nubian village of El-Koubania, near Aswan.
Last night on board.
Departure in Aswan. After breakfast on board, then you will have the time to enjoy the beautiful Nubian city and then transfer to Aswan airport or train station.
